Allie’s Insta-Buy List

66DA0A76-AC0A-4E1E-B47B-9EFB00BB154F

This is my comprehensive list of authors I stan and purchase no matter what. It’s longer than I thought, to be honest. The more I listed, the more I remembered I love.

Tiana Warner

Ya’ll knew this was coming. Don’t act like you don’t know my love for Tiana and everything she writes. I’m currently reading an ARC of her newest book and it’s so much different from Ice Massacre but it’s SO GOOD. I can’t wait to shove it at everyone. I also feel silly not knowing Ice Massacre ISN’T her debut novel, so I’m gonna go find it and read it because duh.

Libba Bray

I have loved Libba’s work since I was a teenager. I’ve read A Great and Terrible Beauty more times than I can count, and I know I can rely on Libba to keep me hooked though the entire book (even if it’s 900 pages and the middle is a little tedious, I’m looking at you, The Sweet Far Thing). She always comes through in the end and I love her for it. The only one I wasn’t into was Going Bovine, but that doesn’t change anything.

Zoraida Cordova

Zoraida knows what I need. I need gay girls, I need witches, I need magic, but I also need recognizable settings and modern banter. I absolutely love both Labyrinth Lost and Bruja Born. I can’t wait to see how the series ends but I’m also excited to see what else Zoraida bring to the table.

Rin Chupeco

Rin came to me in the form of The Bone Witch and I was surprised to see how much I enjoyed it. Obviously, it’s not her first rodeo, but it’s so wonderfully crafted and beautiful. Now, I’ve gotten the privilege to read The Shadow Glass before release and she destroyed me. I’ve now gone back to read The Girl from the Well and was not disappointed. I feel so ahead of the game because I’ve already read The Shadow Glass and I just want a new book, but I have to wait!

Paul Tremblay

Oh, Mr. Tremblay. How did you get so good and creepy? I know our dear Stephen King is like the king of horror, but Paul is right on his tail. A Head Full of Ghosts is still my favorite horror novel, though I’m still searching. The Cabin at the End of the World is amazingly suspenseful and unsettling. It took me like A WEEK to get my hands on it because my bookstore hadn’t gotten it off the truck yet. I went literally every day, harassing them about it. When’s the next one, Paul, huh?!

R.F. (Rebecca) Kuang

We got a debut on our hands, and one of the most amazing debut fantasy books I’ve ever read. The Poppy War is raw and gripping and so full of atmosphere you can almost smell the village Rin comes from. I’m definitely excited for the sequel, but also for what comes after from Rebecca.

Angie Thomas

If you don’t know by now, I LOVE The Hate U Give and I currently own all but ONE printed edition. I promised myself I’m done buying them now and will only buy them as gifts but… there’s a hardback I don’t have… Gotta resist. I feel like a sham because I still haven’t seen the movie since I had no one to go with me. It’s out on DVD now, so I should be able to see it soon. I’m really looking forward to On the Come Up, but I don’t anticipate filling my shelves with all of the editions again. Angie is one of the few authors I will read contemporary from because it’s not usually my style.

Tomi Adeyemi

Let’s get the whole accusing-Nora-Roberts thing out of the way first. I’m not on the train of cancelling people for making one (very stupid) mistake. Even after proving she talked to Nora Roberts and worked the whole thing out, I saw people basically trashing her and anything new from her, and I think that’s a little harsh. I really really enjoyed Children of Blood and Bone and I’m very excited about Children of Virtue and Vengeance. I got CoBaB on release day and I plan to do the same for the sequel.

Tiffany D. Jackson

TIFFANY, I LOVE YOU. I was on a roll with contemporary when I first read Allegedly and holy shit, that book messed me up. And guess what, she did it again with Monday’s Not Coming! I was a wreck for days after finishing Monday and I will immediately buy anything she releases because she just keeps getting better and better.

Dawn Kurtagich

Dawn is KILLER. Seriously, she writes some of the spookiest stuff with such amazing atmosphere, I’m surprised I can sleep at night. And the Trees Crept In is one of my top horror novels because it’s just so unsettling and creepy and there’s plot twists, I just can’t deal. Her new one, Teeth in the Mist is on my anxiously-awaiting list. I’m so ready for more spooks!

  1. I probably always buy books that draws my attention. I never buy instantly a book, I just cant. I think the closest to buying all books was Court of Thrones and Roses from back then.

  2. Oh I love this! Our lists are sooo different. I’m not a fan of witch books so I’d never read a few of the authors you mentioned – but then you also love Tomi so maybe I should trust your taste! Sadly I’ve DNF’ed every Libba Bray book I’ve tried to read, but I’m so glad she’s one of your favourites! Would you be okay with me writing my own post with my Insta Buy authors? 💕

  3. Great post! :) Mine are: Leigh Bardugo, Sarah J.Maas, Marie Lu, Becky Albertalli, Stephen King, James Patterson, Stuart MacBride, Mo Hayder, Mary Higgins Clark, Pierce Brown, Christina Lauren, Cassandra Clare and I think I forgot other important ones but that would be the main list.

  4. Oh I’ve not heard of so many of these! I will have to check them out. I think my insta buys are Leigh Bardugo, Jay Kristoff and Neal Shusterman.

  5. I’m always jealous of people who can come up with lists of authors (or even books) that they really like, because as soon as I start trying to compile one I start doubting how much I actually enjoy them 😅

I’m also super super picky about what I read, so even my favorite authors (Maggie Stiefvater being my go-to, but I also love Sarah Dessen and Catherynne M. Valente and lots of others) aren’t a guarantee that I’ll love the new release? (me @ me: why are you like this why can’t we just enjoy things)

but this is a great list, and I’m so happy for you that you have so many auto-buy authors to follow and enjoy!

    1. I read The Girl From the Well and really liked it but didn’t finish The Suffering. I’ll definitely get back to it soon, but I just wasn’t in the mood when I was reading it the first time.

  6. I’ve never read any Libba Bray but I feel like I need to soon! I also have some Paul Tremblay books but surprise, I haven’t read any of them!

  7. I’ve read some from Libba Bray and I loved it, and I can’t believe I am about to remedy my lack of Rin Chupeco books read so soon!

  8. I have all of Angie Thomas and Tomi Adeyemi’s books so far and would probably by the rest! Marissa Meyer would be on my list too :)
