Browsing Bloggers Bookshelves | Heather @ The Frozen Library

bbsBrowsing Bloggers Bookhselves | Heather
I’m very excited to bring this series back again as it seems to be a reader favourite. Today I have the opportunity to browse Heather’s bookshelves. She blogs at The Frozen Library.

Her shelves are possbily some of the tidiest I’ve got to browse AND its all in one bookcase which makes my life easier. You can read her post browsing my shelves here.

Want to know how to take part?

We’ll share photographs of our (main) bookshelves with each other so the other person can “browse” them and pick out books they’d recommend, books they suggest to avoid, or books they’d love to read.

I’ve loved doing this and can’t wait to do more but please contact via Twitter DMs or emails. I do have a list of these ready so do anticipate it being a post to schedule for the future if you reach out. Unfortunately if you only reply to a tweet I’m more likely to lose it in the notifications, which I know has happened and I’m trying my best to go and find them…

Browsing Bloggers Bookshelves | Adele @ Bookish Della

I’ve known Della for a good while now thanks to Books and Tea and she blogs at BookishDella! I also know we have a very similar taste in books and I’ve been a bad influence on her recent purchases. I’m looking forward to seeing what her bookshelves are like.

I can’t wait to see her browse my shelves. You can read her post browsing my shelves here.

Browsing Bloggers Bookshelves | Imi @ Imi Reviews Books

bbsBrowsing Bloggers Bookhselves | Imi
Imi has become a very close friend of mine these past few months so it seemed only natural that I’d eventually be browsing her bookshelves, she blogs over at Imi Reviews Books and is shortlisted for a UKYABA Award too! I am so so proud of her and think she deserves all kinds of support.

Anyway, I’m very excited to have Imi’s bookshelves on my blog today given that I’ve also seen them in person and I can honestly say I am in love. They’re goals. You can read her post browsing my shelves here.

Challenges, Updates

I finished my Goodreads Goal in February…

goodreads goal finI finished my Goodreads Goal in February

In 2018 I set my goal for 30 books, this is the first time I’ve set it low on purpose. I knew from previous years reading I would read more than this and in the back of my head I had my own alternate goal. However throughout my years blogging I’ve seen much discourse on Goodreads goal being a cause of stress and reading slumps should we ever get behind.

Setting it to something I knew I could achieve took all that away, but I still kept it to 30 as in 2016 I read 37 books so I’m very aware how my own mood and life can affect my reading in multiple ways.

I set it to 30 again this year and well… as the title suggests, I completed this is in February. Keep reading to find out what I read and my thoughts on the books.

Please note: this post contains summaries from Goodreads and affiliate links to purchase the books; you’ll not be charged any extra when purchasing through these. Continue reading “I finished my Goodreads Goal in February…”

Books That Surprised Me (For Better Or Worse) | Written by Gail

booksthat surprisedmeI don’t know if you could tell from the everything about me, but I read a lot. At any given moment, I’m probably reading or watching something; those are the two options. I’ve been known to do both with other people. And after 21 years, I think I have a pretty good idea of what stuff I like, and whether or not you like it, in this age of marketing, you can judge a book by its cover. That means that usually I enjoy the books I pick up, because I picked them up because the combination of the cover and the summary is usually a good indicator of whether or not this book will work for me.

What this means, in practice, is that most books I read get either three or four stars. I’m not one to give five stars unless a book is truly exceptional; and I very rarely give a book a solid try if it isn’t working for me. These are a few standouts.
