Wicked Wildfire Read-a-Thon Wrap Up

Wow. That went by super quickly. Like super super quickly. One minute we’re all wearing party hats, talking about Vampires and planning to live with one and another and now its over. I hope I can take part next time round – in fact I’m pretty sure I will regardless of when it happens because I met some wonderful people!

At the start of the read-a-thon I decided I’d aim to read 5 books as I figured I’d be reading some graphic novels which help bump numbers up a lot, unfortunately I only read 2 books and 54% of another which honestly I’m pretty happy about considering I only finished off one comic.

I also aimed to read for a minimum of 7 hours. I thought I’d struggle with this but Pushing the Limits was a book I didn’t want to put down and I almost reached 7 hours on the second day and smashed it by the end.

Overall I read 3 books, read for 9 hours 19 minutes which is a total of 784 pages. Not bad considering the 23rd was a really slow reading day.

I also took part in both twitter chats – the first one all the way through, and the second only for the first 55 minutes. They were a lot of fun and during the first one I won a $5 Amazon voucher which I used to pay for the postage for a book that wasn’t prime eligible *o* but I’ll be super happy to get my hands on it!
My entries to the challenges can be seen here.

Pushing the LimitsBloodlines (Bloodlines, #1)

The books I finished reading/read/currently reading are:FLCL by Gainax – review completed (posting on 28th June). The complete FLCL manga adaptation-now with bonus color illustrations and remastered story pages! In this surreal sci-fi romp, a sullen Japanese boy finds himself in the middle of an interstellar conspiracy. As his home life unravels, a sexy space assassin becomes his family maid, and his own head becomes a portal for armed robots. Life as he knows it is quickly falling apart, and Naota doesn’t know who’s friend or foe! One thing’s for certain-he has to grow up quick and save his hometown, whether he wants to or not! With Dark Horse’s FLCL Omnibus, fans will not only get every chapter in Hajime Ueda’s acclaimed FLCL adaptation, but this collection will also include revised story pages and over a dozen color FLCL illustrations by Ueda.
Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry  – review in progress (posting on 26th July).“I won’t tell anyone, Echo. I promise.” Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. “You didn’t do that-did you? It was done to you?” No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked. “An edgy romance that pulls you in and never lets go. I was hooked!”-Gena Showalter,  New York Times bestselling author of the Intertwined series . So wrong for each other…and yet so right. No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with “freaky” scars on her arms. Even Echo can’t remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo’s world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.  Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she’ll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.
Bloodlines by Richelle Mead – still readingSydney protects vampire secrets – and human lives. Sydney belongs to a secret group who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the world of humans and vampires. But when Sydney is torn from her bed in the middle of the night, she fears she’s still being punished for her complicated alliance with dhampir Rose Hathaway. What unfolds is far worse. The sister of Moroi queen Lissa Dragomir is in mortal danger, and goes into hiding. Now Sydney must act as her protector. The last thing Sydney wants is to be accused of sympathizing with vampires. And now she has to live with one…

Wicked Wildfire Read-a-Thon Goals, Progress & Challenges.

Rebecca at Kindle Fever and April at My Shelf Confessions is hosting the Wicked Wildfire Read-a-Thon that lasts for 5 days! This is the second Read-a-thon I will be taking part in but the first time joining in with Wicked Wildfire. I’m excited to get started as the last few days have been a little slow on the reading side.
During these five days I want to meet a few goals which I’m going to list below;
Time goal: I’d like to read for a minimum of 7 hours.
Book goal: I’d like get through 5 books minimum – whether that be finishing of books already started or starting and finishing completely new books.
As I have themed June as “review reading” month it means that a lot of the books I have on my to read list are graphic novels so I’m pretty sure I’ll meet the 5 book target, though my reviews will be posted at a later date. I would also like to keep up to date with reviewing the books I read during this read-a-thon so I don’t have a lot to do after these five days of hardcore reading. Each day I will be updating this post with my reading progress and any of the challenges I take part in then at the end of the Read-a-thon I will also create a wrap up post. I’ll also be updating my progress of the read-a-thon at Twitter under the tag #WWReadathon and at Goodreads on my Wicked Wildfire Vol 3 shelf – feel free to add me as a friend or follow me anywhere! After all, the more the merrier right?
P.S. You can still sign up just head to this page.

(I’ve saved any people or pets in there already!)
A. Well seeing as though you’ve already saved people and pets then I guessed I’d probably grab my Emilie Autumn book seeing as though its signed and cost about £50, my external hard drive with all my photographs on (its only small), my kindle so at least some of my books are saved and Larry the Lamb cause I got him when I was born and to leave him burning would be horrific.

Wicked Summer Scorcher…
For this Wicked Wildfire Challenge you are a VAMPIRE who cannot be out in the sun or – you guessed it, you get scorched. Szzzzzz. Smoking skin, you get the picture. It’s not going to be pretty. However, YOU don’t have a choice! You see you have several beloved objects you must grab otherwise they will be forever lost to you. What are those objects? Well we’ve peaked inside your minds and made sure to grab 3 of your MOST treasured belongings, which since they are unique will be different for each of you – but you know what they are. So knowing two things, that you’re a vampire who HAS to run in the sun to grab 3 precious items, you have some thinking to do. How are you going to protect yourself from the sun; from getting scorched to a little vampire crisp? Tell me what you’d do and how you’d do it and HOPEFULLY you’ll survive to see another sunset.
Ouch. Me and the Sun aren’t friends as it is, never mind now that I’m a vampire. Obviously to get out there I’m going to soak my bed covers in freezing cold water and cover myself up in them so hopefully the thickness of the duvet will protect me and if I should catch fire the dampness will help me out. Right? Please don’t let me burn. As for those precious items, one of them is my charm bracelet from my boyfriend (it is beautiful and has a charm that represents our turtles too), I’d also pick up Clio who is soft and cuddley (also a present from the boyfriend) and last but not least my laptop so I have contact with the outside world – which I’d use to keep in contact with you lovely people and persuade you to share your blood, you’d do that right? For me? Please *blinks eyes like an Angel* Pretty please!
