Browsing Bloggers Bookhselves | Heather
I’m very excited to bring this series back again as it seems to be a reader favourite. Today I have the opportunity to browse Heather’s bookshelves. She blogs at The Frozen Library.
Her shelves are possbily some of the tidiest I’ve got to browse AND its all in one bookcase which makes my life easier. You can read her post browsing my shelves here.
Want to know how to take part?
We’ll share photographs of our (main) bookshelves with each other so the other person can “browse” them and pick out books they’d recommend, books they suggest to avoid, or books they’d love to read.
I’ve loved doing this and can’t wait to do more but please contact via Twitter DMs or emails. I do have a list of these ready so do anticipate it being a post to schedule for the future if you reach out. Unfortunately if you only reply to a tweet I’m more likely to lose it in the notifications, which I know has happened and I’m trying my best to go and find them…

To start here is an overall view of Heathers bookcase, isn’t it lovely? The little decorations really make it feel loved and homely. I can already see we have very different tastes in books! Or y’know I just have a lot to buy…
I’ll use these emoji’s as a code:
π β books to add to my tbr | π β read and recommend | π β do not recommend
On the first twoshelves theres actually no books that I’ve read and haven’t already spoken about before so I can’t recommend anything new wow. However, I have a dire need to know how the Alaska Espresso candle smells.
π Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston [purchase] & Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller [purchase]
I was actually very lucky and blessed to meet Ashley Poston last month and thanks to Faye I was able to buy 1 of the 3 copies of Heart of Iron. I’ve been dying to read this since hearing Kimi talk about to seeing it on someone else’s shelf bring me joy.
Whilst Daughter of the Siren Queen is the second in the series I’m still very much wishing and wanting to own both of these, it seems like a story that would be right up my alley.
π Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld [purchase]
I actually own this book, somewhere! I’m not sure why I’ve not read it yet but the premise sounds very interesting still so very much suggesting you add it to your wishlist.
I’m moving on to the bottom two shelves now, and also I’ll include a close up photo of them so you can browse with me!
Wow, I realise now that I’ve only read Insurgent + The Hunger Games trilogy here (both series I’ve spoken about already) so
π Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young [purchase]
This is a book I keep coming back too because I want it but I can’t work out just how much I want it. So it keeps ending up just missing a spot in my shopping basket… What do you think about this book?
π The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes [purchase] & The Neverland Wars by Audrey Greathouse [purchase]
The Naturals has been on my wishlist for a long long time and I kind of forgot it existed. Looking at the synopsis I still have an interest in this, but not a huge one. But definitely interested!!
Where as on the other side of things The Neverland Wars is totally new to me book. Never heard of it before but it sounds like a good read. Its nice to see something new jump out to me.
This is the first post in which I’ve noticed I have the least in common in taste with the bookshelf owner which was has made this a very different post to write. I spent a lot more time browsing and looking up book titles. Its very interesting browsing shelves and feeling like this but also nice to remember how many books exist out there.
Did I skip over any of your favourite books?
oooooh I love all the Funkos and candles and other little decorations! I have fond memories of reading Rebel Belle (at least I think that’s it on the top shelf towards the right, the pink spine with the bow) but otherwise don’t really remember it? π I also adored the Mother-Daughter Book Club series (middle grade contemporary, pretty heteronormative with minimal diversity, but fairly wholesome fun) and own all seven on Kindle (but only the first in print), and I’m reminded that I should at some point finish the Red Queen series.
it’s definitely really interesting to see shelves with a lot of new books to discover!
Awe thank you! Yes, that’s Rebel Belle. I’ve had it for forever cuz my friend recommended it but I still haven’t read it yet. XD
I LOVE the Mother-Daughter Book Club! I’ve read all of them except the last one cuz I know it’ll make me sad, but I want to reread the rest of the books and collect them first before I get to it.
I’ve only read the first two books and the Cruel Crown novella of Red Queen, but I bought Broken Throne anyway cuz I saw the exclusive edition at Target. XD I still need to get and read the last two!
Awwwwwe thanks! :D Yes I like being very organized and decorative. XD And it’s all on one shelf cuz that’s all the books I own. I’m not big on ARCs for some reason.
The Alaska Espresso candle just smells like coffee. XD But it’s really rich and smells amazing! It’s one of those wood wick ones that crackle as they burn and I’ve always wanted to try one so I bought one at a vendor market/festival thing a few weeks ago and it’s made by a local shop. :)
Oh that’s so cool how you got to meet Ashley Poston! I really liked Geekerella and I’m really into Anastasia stuff right now, so I just started reading Heart of Iron. :)
You should definitely read Daughter of the Pirate King! It was so fun and I’m really excited to read DOTSQ this month too!
I’ve had Afterworlds on my TBR since like 2015 and I FINALLY just started it! It is actually pretty cool so far, though the way the main character got her publishing deal is SO unrealistic. XD But I’m enjoying reading her book’s chapters in between! It’s so cool to read two books in one.
Sky in the Deep was SO GOOD OMG. You should read it! I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did at all, but the characters just stole my heart pretty much right away and I enjoyed readings their arcs so much and seeing how their situation that seemed impossible was going to work out! Also the fight scenes were really cool imo and written really well. I can’t wait for the companion. ;)
I recommend reading The Naturals just for the plot twist! Some other aspects of it might be a little mediocre, but man that TWIST at the end makes it worth it! I didn’t see it coming at all, and it’s SO creepy and one of those ones where you don’t think of it at all but when you look back it totally makes sense. I looked up the author and she’s a psychology professor too so she knows her stuff, and it definitely shows through her writing. :)
The Neverland Wars was good too, but I’ve been obsessed with Peter Pan since I was little so I just had to read it. XD Also I just love the pretty cover.
Yeah sorry. XD I knew my tastes were going to be different. I think there was like only two or three books on your shelf that I actually read? XD
Like you, I really want to smell the Alaska Espresso candle! I think I’ve only read 5 or 6 of the books from those shelves, looks like some interesting titles I should check out though!
I love Heather’s shelves! Every time I see them I’m so jealous of them. Wish my shelves could at least look like this. Have read most of everything that is on her shelves.
Sky in the Deep was honestly so good, but I feel like it’s a really polarizing read (maybe partially because of the hype?). I just really enjoyed the whole familial aspect of it, and the romance is pretty slow-burning and low-key, which was a nice change of pace from the romance-heavy stuff I reach for with most YA fantasy.
I spy Starfish, after reading Summer Bird Blue, I really need to get around to it.
Throne of Glass and Six of Crows <3! I also spot Eliza and her Monsters which I've been meaning to read for the longest time.
There are so many books on these shelves that I want to read!
Iβve not read many on her shelves, but currently listening to the audiobook of Stalking Jack the Ripper π
Oooh these bookshelves are super pretty!!
First off, these shelves look so pretty! I love all the candles and fairylights and funko pops.
SKY IN THE DEEP. Oh my goodness it is MARVELLOUS, absolutely spectacular, I would 100% recommend it. Honestly one of my favourite books ever.
