Books and Tea Book Club | Events in June
Just hopping in this month to tell you more about what we have planned for June, if you want to know more about my Book Club check out this post!
LGBT+ Read-along
I was 100% way more prepared this month and had a wide selection of books suggested for the poll. I had to really cut the list down to make it less overwhelming. I basically sorted the nominations into genres and made sure we had a few from each.
The full list that people voted from:
The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman | The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon | You Asked for Perfect by Laura Silverman | Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan | Failure to Communicate by Kaia Sonderby | We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia| Nightingale by Amy Lukavics | The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid | Other Words for Smoke by Sarah Maria Griffin | The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum | The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers | Witchmark by C.L. Polk
There are some amazing names in this list but the winning book is:The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
I’m very happy that this was the winning book for June as its something I had recently started reading for other reasons! Evelyn Hugo was a very close second.
If you’d like to take part copies can be purchased from Amazon, Blackwells, & Wordery using my affiliate links at now extra cost for you.
Additionally each month we’re going to encourage members who don’t want to read the winning book to read a book of choice that fits the theme & encourage the discussion of these books and whether they’d recommend them.
We’ve kept all read-along chats open that have started this year so that members can hop in and out of past choices should they be new members or just didn’t have time that designated month.
For July out theme will be “TRANSLATED” so any book that was written not in English can be nominated, what are your suggestions? I’ve also made it so that only 1 book per author will be in the final poll so it’s not just Murakami.
Your going to be reading #smallangryplanet for JUNE right? Hmm. That might work for me! I co-hosted a RAL for this novel with Lisa @deargeekplace last #RRSciFiMonth *but!* I never had the chance to post my 3rd and final recap of reading the last block of chapters… I can definitely re-borrow the book and finalise it. This might be the NUDGE I need to get back into the book and sort out my thoughts as although I did finish our bookish chat on Twitter – I just never had the chance to finish what I started on my blog! Top cheers!
I’ve had a Small Angry Planet on my bookshelf for years now and I have only ever heard good things about it so I’m hoping now that this will mean I am definitely going to pick it up in June!
