I’m back and on track with a second Book Hooked Box unboxing. This time I’ll be talking about Aprils Rebellious Relations box.
If you want to read about March’s box check out this post.
For those who don’t know though, Book Hooked Box is a UK book subscription box with a focus on providing you a hardback book and items you’ll love and use that month too. The items will help to create a relaxing and indulgent experience for you so you can live your best bookish life tbh.
The main goodie of this box is a signed bookplate with We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia, with a letter from the author.
This has been slightly on my radar but once I found out it had a f/f ship in it, I too was in this ship hard.
So I’m super excited to give this a read, even though I’ve been slumping hard recently I do hope this’ll be one that makes my immediate TBR.
Synopsis: At the Medio School for Girls, distinguished young women are trained for one of two roles in their polarized society. Depending on her specialization, a graduate will one day run a husband’s household or raise his children, but both are promised a life of comfort and luxury, far from the frequent political uprisings of the lower class. Daniela Vargas is the school’s top student, but her bright future depends upon no one discovering her darkest secret—that her pedigree is a lie. Her parents sacrificed everything to obtain forged identification papers so Dani could rise above her station. Now that her marriage to an important politico’s son is fast approaching, she must keep the truth hidden or be sent back to the fringes of society, where famine and poverty rule supreme.
On her graduation night, Dani seems to be in the clear, despite the surprises that unfold. But nothing prepares her for all the difficult choices she must make, especially when she is asked to spy for a resistance group desperately fighting to bring equality to Medio. Will Dani cling to the privilege her parents fought to win for her, or to give up everything she’s strived for in pursuit of a free Medio—and a chance at a forbidden love?
As I’ve mentioned in my previously Book Hooked Box’s main aim is for the box to be affordable and to provide a relaxing experience for you whilst cosying up with your new book. Its safe to say I definitely think they’ve achieved this.

I’ve been having some great morning reading sessions with the candle lit, maybe tonight I can treat myself to some chocolate too. If I read that is. I always save the chocolates for a reading session, no matter what. It definitely creates a cosy experience.
I actually got 4 subscription boxes in April so I should hopefully do unboxings of the other three too. This was the only one I got where I didn’t have to think about trading or selling items so its clearly the best for money (and the cheapest). I’m a big fan!
As I’m writing this post they have a small amount of Mays Dark Crafts box left which I’m obviously super excited for. Its also important to note that BHB wont be having a June box, but will continue like normal in July (full info here). Very excited to continue watching BHB grow and see what they bring to the table.
