Books and Tea Book Club | Events in April
Just hopping in this month to tell you more about what we have planned for May, if you want to know more about my Book Club check out this post!
Adaptation Read-along
I definitely dropped the ball this month. It slipped my mind to even prep and get nominations so May’s has officially been the quickest turn around on suggestions, votings, and winner announcements.
The choices for the read-along were a great selection, can you guess which won?
On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers | The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle | The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa | Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky | World War Z by Max Brooks | Bird Box by Josh Malerman | Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen | Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin
There are some amazing names in this list but the winning book is:
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I’m not a huge fan of classics so I’ll be sitting out of it but I’m considering watching one of the adaptations so I can take part a little as I’ve never seen any of them – and it fits with the theme.
If you’d like to take part copies can be purchased from Amazon, Blackwells, & Wordery using my affiliate links at now extra cost for you.
Additionalyl each month we’re going to encourage members who don’t want to read the winning book to read a book of choice that fits the theme & encourage the discussion of these books and whether they’d recommend them.
We’ve kept all read-along chats open that have started this year so that members can hop in and out of past choices should they be new members or just didn’t have time that designated month.
For June our theme is LGBT+! We still have LGBT Pride chat that I created last June for all things relevant but now we need a book to fit this theme too, what are your suggestions?

I really like how you are still making a great effort to include those who don’t want to read the winning book! Such a great idea to watch an adaptation if you feel the book is not for you. I found that a few of the adaptations are fairly accurate and seem to be true to the characters, at least from what I remember.
I’m not a big fan of classics either, I also have never seen Pride and Prejudice or an adaptation, I really need to get around to that!
I’ve never actually read this particular classic, but I am a huge fan of the Colin Firth tv series of it
I’ve really been meaning to watch an adaptation of Pride and Prejudice so that I can finally understand what everyone is talking about! I think I would be far too intimidated to pick up Game of Thrones.
I’ve never picked up or been interested in Pride and Prejudice but this might just be the month to give it a go!
Ahhhh I love P+P and want to give this a go!
I’m not really a fan of classics either, most of the time I had to read one I just didn’t enjoy them. Nor can I say that I really had any interest in watching any adaption of them either. Oopsies.
I’m definitely not a big classics fan but I love the option you’ve given of reading another book that fits the theme or watching the film version!
Ooo this sounds fun, this is a classic I still need to read!
I am not known to read a lot of classic literature, but I have been thinking about reading Pride & Prejudice. I have never seen an adaptation of it either.
