Browsing Bloggers Bookshelves | Justine @ BookishWisps

bbsBrowsing Bloggers Bookhselves | Bookish Wisps

I wasn’t lying when I said this was going to become an actual feautre on my blog now, I’ve had a lot of people reach out to do this with me. I’m really excited about todays post where I get to feature Justine from Bookish Wisps shelves, she’s become a great new friend of mine! I love her content a lot so please stop by her blog, not just to browse my shelves but to read her other content too.

Want to know how to take part?

We’ll share photographs of our (main) bookshelves with each other so the other person can”browse” them and pick out books they’d recommend, books they suggest to avoid, or books they’d love to read.

I’ve loved doing this and can’t wait to do more but please contact via Twitter DMs or emails. I do have a list of these ready so do anticipate it being a post to schedule for the future if you reach out. Unfortunately if you only reply to a tweet I’m more likely to loose it in the notifications, which I know has happened and I’m trying my best to go and find them…

Justine’s Bookshelves

So now lets dive into Justine’s books! I really enjoyed browsing her shelves as I noticed that the publishing style of a few of these are different than what I’ve seen before; they look taller and are also in a protective wrapping which is pretty awesome.

I’ll use these emoji’s as a code:
πŸ“š – books to add to my tbr | πŸ“– – read and recommend | πŸ’” – do not recommend
πŸ“–Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas [purchase]
I’ve read most of this series and its definitely hit or miss for readers. For me I was super invested when I first started it, and I still find it a very easy read.

πŸ“šSlasher Girls & Monster Boys by April Genevieve Tucholke [purchase] & The Young Elites by Marie Lu [purchase]
I’m actually very surprised I don’t own either of these, in fact only one was on my wishlist. Both have caught my eye multiple times so hopefully I can read them one day.

πŸ’”Divergent series by Veronica Roth
When I read the first two in the trilgoy I was definitely fond of them but I felt it took too long to get to the good part. I never finished the trilogy even tho the ending of Insurgent is what hooked me most… Ooops.
20190312_214917.jpgπŸ“–The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black [purchase]
I still feel numb and in desperate need for the final book. I need it now tbh.

πŸ“šN0S4A2 by Joe Hill [purchase] & Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy [purchase]
I’m really intersted in giving any Joe Hill book a try tbh! I’m all for reading more horror. I know that you’re a little more surprised by Ramona Blue but the rep in this book seems like something I’d relate to a lot and enjoy.

πŸ’”Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Waa, I’m sorry. I tried it, the ending started to interest me but the future love interest made me sick in this book so I can’t brave any more.

20190312_214631.jpgπŸ“šStarters by Lissa Price [purchase] & Beauty Queens by Libba Bray [purchase]
I actually have a signed HB of Starters that I won forever ago – I should really get to it one day. But Beauty Queens is one of the highest books on my wishlist and I’m kinda annoyed at myself for having not purchased it yet.

πŸ“–The Book Thief by Markus Zusak [purchase]
This is an old fave of mine. I honestly enjoyed it so much I didn’t want it to end, so I dragged out reading it for about 6 months.

20190312_220641πŸ“šThe Rose & the Dagger and The Wrath & the Dawn by RenΓ©e Ahdieh [purchase]
I do own both of these but as with a lot of my owned books I haven’t read them yet! I’m super excited to get to them one day.

Ooops its 2am. I was supposed to finish this post 30 minutes ago but I fell into a book for an hour or so instead. But hi I did it! Should I say for the 100th time how much I love doing these post… its so fun to see how similar or different friends choices are. I can’t wait to see what Justine has chosen from my shelves to talk about.

Did I skip over any of your favourite books?

Which of these books would you recommend?

  1. Yup, agreed! The Throne of Glass is something I would view as a hit or miss with its readers. Kingdom of Ash was something I was really mixed about. I mean I kind of grew up with the series. Truth be told, I haven’t read Slasher yet hahaha! as I see it from here I may be organizing a Halloween TBR hmm.. Yeah, the Divergent does have that effect to me too. Same with Ramona Blue, I think I will resonate myself with the rep in it too.

Gosh, so many books yet to read!! And thank you so much for allowing me to do this with you. I was looking forward to this! Hope this won’t be the last.

  2. I really like this kind of post, even if I feel guilty after reading them because my shelves are a complete mess and I am procrastinating since January… Oops!
I haven’t read most of them, but Illuminae is a favorite of mine :)

  3. Haha I unfortunately never liked the Divergent books, I read the three, and I kept hoping something would change, I am probably one of the few that thought the ending slightly redeemed it for me lol. And anyone that owns a copy of The Book Thief and loves it, they’re cool in my books, I loved Justine’s shelves!

  4. What a cool series idea, Lauren! I am reading Shatter Me right now and while I am actually really enjoying the book, I am having a REALLY HARD TIME because I know who the future love interest is going to be and it is disgusting to me. I don’t know what is worse, knowing it is coming or getting blindsided by it… either way, it’s always in the back of my mind.

I spy Illuminae and my heart went aflutter!

    1. i didnt know when i read it and i just felt super sick w that characters action, i could feel my insides churning w the lil things he says and does.

but i just had a feeling at the end of the book things werent gonna stay the same so i had a friend tell me who the main love interest was and knowing that made me choose not to continue :’)

  5. Ok so I know you know how much I love TOG so I probably don’t need to go on about it. I started reading Shatter Me last year and just couldn’t get into it so after that and hearing your comments that will probably stay as a DNF for me!

  6. The Book Thief has always been one of my favorite books. I love it, and I feel in need of a reread. Also, Throne of Glass and The Rose and the Dagger are both on my TBR. I have been meaning to read them forever!
