Its not October yet, how dare I start talking about Halloween related things! But I am and you can’t stop me.
Keep reading if you’d like to find out what Blogoween is and how to take part with the lovely #NewBloggers bunch! Clo at Bookish Dragons 24/7 is the main host of this bookish blogoween but it was a group conversation that set this in motion – this is the type of stuff you’re missing out on if you’re not a member. Working ideas off one and other is so much fun.
Throughout the month of October you can post Halloween (or Autumn) inspired posts that relate to books, blogging, or writing.
But there is no need to worry, theres three different levels to take part so you don’t have to panic about posting every day – though if you want too we are more than ready for that too!
We’re ready? Yep! We’ve started compiling a prompt list for this too!
To take part you sign up to one of the following levels. We created three to make this as accessable to everyone as possible .
Level One: 13 Days of Blogoween
– Pick any 13 days to post
– These do not have to be consecutive
– You don’t have to post on Halloween, but you can.
Level Two: Big Bad Blogoween
– Must post throughout 24th – 31st October
– 7 Halloween/Autumn inspired posts
– Must post on Halloween
– Can’t change level
Level Three: 31 Days of Blogoween
– Post something blogoween related every day
– Can mix Autumn themes into you post
– If it turns out to be too much, you can switch to Level One
Each week there will be two different hosts and they’ll each be creating their own unique prompts for their days.
Please keep in mind that not all hosts will be on Level Three.
Week One
1st – 3rd: Anthony @ Keep Reading Forward
4th – 7th: Kaleena @ Reader Voracious
Week Two
8th – 10th: Camilla @ Reader in the Attic
11th – 14: Me!
Week Three
15th- 17th: Jamsu @ Jamsu Dreams
18th – 21st: Anna @ The Bursting Bookshelf
Week Four
22nd – 24th: Sam @ Fictionally Sam
25th – 28th: Soph @ Bookwyrming Thoughts
Week Five
29th – 21st: Clo @ Book Dragons 24/7
As mentioned we will have a prompt list going live in the next week or so.
But for now we just want to let you know that the following are all accepted:
– Review
– Discussions
– Lists
– Tags
Which means yes! There is something for everyone. You can make this work for you.
Because I’m so lovely I’m going to give you a sneak peek at the prompts I created and hosting. Shhh don’t tell anyone. But also whew gotta hold me to this now.
Thursday 11th: Spell List
We’re all familar with Book Spine Poetry by now. No? Stackup your books in an order that allow the titles to create a poem. For this prompt we’re using horror or halloween themed books only to line up and create Book Spine Spells!
Friday 12th: Loving the monsters always ends badly for the human
I’ll be exploring my favourite creatures of the night – Vampires – and leaving a recommendation or two.
Saturday 13th: 31 Horror Movies in 31 Days (2)
Throughout October I’ll be aiming to watch 31 horror movies and blogging about them. The number 2 there is because this will be a weekly feature I do where I look at the horror movies I watched that week.
Sunday 14th: Grimoire Notes
A look into the horror books I’ve read so far this month for Spooks and Tea read-a-thon, possibly with some photographs and mini-reviews. This will be my last time to check in before I fly out of the country for the rest of October!
I hope I’ve helped you feel a little inspired.
To take part we’d really love it if you signed up by creating a sign up post!
Things you can include are:
– Links back to Clo’s post so others know the full information
– Announcing what Level you want to sign up too
– Any of the prompts you’d like to take part in (if the prompt list is live by the time you sign up)
– Your initial ideas of what you’ll be posting!
Once you’ve created your sign up post please fill out this form so we can be sure to visit your sign up post and posts throughout the month!
YAASSS BLOGOWEEEENNNNNNNN!!!!!
Im also stupid excited to do your prompts! ❤️❤️
ahh thats so exciting :) thank you
I like your prompts and that spell list is very innovative. I love vampires and I have some scary book recommendations of my own as well.
I hope you share them ❤
Already signed up for level 2! I can’t wait!!
What an absolute amazing idea! I can’t wait to check out everyone’s posts!!
BLOGOWEEN also ‘Bookish Dragons 24/7’ = Book Dragons hehe, we ignore the 247 in the URL Lauren <3
And the prompt list is live, it went live Tues ;) Eeeek but you're right, they're missing out on the fun if they're not in the group chat haha
yeah i know it went live i had just written this ages ago but this was my only free day :P
and ive been busy so i couldnt edit it ^^ at least they’ll click through to yours and find it
I wanna do level 2 but I need to find somewhere with stable enough Wi-Fi first!
I CAN’T WAIT FOR ALL THESE BOOKS!!! Uni’s making it hard for me to post more, so I won’t be participating, but I’ll keep an eye out for all the participants’ content. ♥
I am SO EXCITED for Blogoween, woohoo!
me too!
This sounds exciting! I will definitely try for level 1 but I am so bad at following prompts – although I am totally doing your 31 horror films and possibly talk about them on the blog, only my films are going to be family/children friendly because I am a scaredy cat that loves Halloween but cannot wait horror films!
I don’t think I have time for this, as my kickstarter will be live etc. But I do hope to do some Halloweeny posts 😊
This sounds like so much fun!
I hope you choose to take part a little :)
