Books and Tea | Meet the Members
I run an online book club called Books and Tea and I love it dearly. I mean obviously I do or I wouldn’t still be running it.
I also wouldn’t be able to run it without the members as their activity within the club and their love for it too keeps it active and running smoothly.
I’m big on supporting the members and showing my appreciation for them and what better way to do so than to have guest posts from them – and thats what this feature will be.
For now I’m posting one every two weeks and I’ve provided the members with 4 open questions to answer and then a space to talk about anything they’d like – something they’re a fan of, something they do outside of the book club, or something they’re passionate about.
Hey. I’m Akselmo/Aks and I like video games. A lot. So much that I decided to start making them myself. If you want to check out my most recent whines, you can find me on twitter. I also run a dead blog that I never update here.
But most importantly, you can find the games I’ve made from here.
How did you get into blogging and the online bookish world?
I used to read a lot, these days I’m bit slacking on that department. However I do read a lot of stuff inside games, such as Elder Scrolls games and Pillars of Eternity. Reading books inside games is kinda interesting, especially in Elder Scrolls games, because every NPC writer is different and they may even lie in the books because of propaganda.
When it comes to real books, I like fantasy stuff such as Harry Potter and LOTR. I’m fairly certain I would like sci-fi, but I haven’t found anything interesting enough yet. I really enjoy reading EVE Chronicles that are rather dark sci-fi, so I guess that would be my thing. I also enjoy reading about real things, history and that sort of thing. Currently I’m reading a book about Commodore 64’s history in Finland (I love retro computers and tech!)
Tell us about your time on Books and Tea
Tecsie, my fiancee, found Books and Tea and naturally I jumped in for the ride. I come and go from the server, since I need to take breaks from social media occasionally. Most of the time it’s been pleasant however. You can find me mostly in the video-games-chat -channel, most likely talking about Quake.
What’s your current game project?
Right now I’m working on an first person shooter called Ironscale. You play as cyborg-lizard-thing and kill baddies in cyberpunk themed world. There’s not much of footage yet since I’m in kind of development slump due to being in internship and after that I got still my thesis to do. However, if you want a quick taste how Ironscale will feel, try Endless Arena, an FPS I made for a game jam in around 36h. It’s pretty much the core for Ironscale, that just needs much more polish and stuff.

Change of plans: #Ironscale will be changed to Dance Dance Ironscale! Instead of FPS, you get to watch Ironscale shake his tail.
