Books and Tea Book Club | September Events
Hi guys, I’m checking in again to let y’all know the variety of things we have happening throughout September. If you want a full run down on what my Book Club has to offer please visit this post.

Want to know whats happening within the Book Club in Sept? Keep reading for an update.

Our main event from August was a the read-along for Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami!

I chose not to take part as I wanted to focus on some of my newer books but this went down really well.

A lot of people took part and even went on to watch the movie and suggesting other pieces of his work.

Now back to September!

We’re hosting two read-longs for this month; a read-along of The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas in preperation for the movie coming out next month.  We’ve actually already read this as a book club but due to growth and excitement for the movie we knew this would be a good one.

The other read-along we’re hosting is for the theme “Banned Books” as September is Banned Books month. We had a lot of greeat suggestions.

It was surprising watching the votes come in for this as originally two books were head to head but neither won. We had a sneaky winner fight through in the last 48hours…

So Tada! For September we are reading BRAVE NEW WORLD and THE HATE U GIVE.

So if any of these books spark your interest and you want to discuss them with others who are reading, please feel free to join.
Have you read any of it, if so what did you think?

  1. The hate you give is one of my fave books 😍 I can’t wait to maybe join you guys in a reread. ( I loaned my physical copy to my aunt in hospital and HAS SHE RETURNED IT? No! ) I guess I can take it as a win for spreading the hate you give love right??? 📖

  2. I would love to take part, but my reading has been really difficult lately because of uni. D: I hope you guys enjoy The Hate U Give, though! Also a bit sad that Bridge to Terabithia didn’t win. I read it some time in high school and enjoyed it!

    1. literally Brave New World didnt look like a contender till the last 2 or 3 days so i was p amazed it won :o

im already planning next months horror readathon and a magic themed readalong both of which im more excited about than BNW aahah.

  3. I’m excited to finally read the hate u give! I had seen so many folks talk about it when it first came out but didn’t really understand what it was about since i’d just seen people say this is amazing and nothing more. Then the trailer came out and I cried and thought well, I need this now

  4. I hope to join them! I mean I joined both but like was quite crazy that I didn’t chat at all on discord in MONTHS! I read Brave New World and I am always curious what new readers think and THUG was on my TBR for way too long!

    1. “one of the most frequently banned and/or challenged books in the United States, supposedly because of its references to witchcraft and atheism and a lot of swearing”

      :) unfortunately yes.
most books are banned a lot more in the US, its more of a US thing tbh
