Books and Tea Book Club | July Events
Hi guys, I’m checking in again to let y’all know the variety of things we have happening throughout July. If you want a full run down on what my Book Club has to offer please visit this post.
Want to know whats happening within the Book Club in July? Keep reading for an update.
I’m not going to touch up on the previous read-along for once bcause I have a lot to cover today as I’m being ambitious for July!
Our main event for July is a read-a-thon! This time we’re having a Graphic Novel themed one.
The reason we’re doing this is because members wanted a GN read-along but I couldn’t decide on how to approach it and ultimately decided a read-a-thon would be best as it will help encourage members to read those that have been sat on their bookshelves for ages, reread a favourite series or two, or visit the library (or NetGalley) and try something new.
I’ll be doing a bookshelf tour in July too of the shelf pictured above so you can get to see what else is behind my Image Comics collection and what those single issues are. I’m really looking forward to this read-a-thon and seeing what new Graphic Novels I’ll find out about.
As I know Graphic Novels aren’t for everyone I decided to host a two read-alongs that were Dystopian themed. One YA and one adult fiction.
Really hoping theres something for everyone this month!
The winning books from the two votes were This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab and The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi. I really love the sound of both of them but with all the real life events I have going on in July its likely I’ll only find time for one at this rate..
Last but not least we’re also doing a read-along of Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik. This is more of an “unofficial” one and more because so many of the members loved Uprooted we just had to read her newest release too!

Oooh I hope you get round to reading This Savage Song, I love VE Schwab and really think you’ll enjoy it! I got Spinning Silver yesterday and I’m *hoping* I can get to it in the next couple of weeks or so, it’s sounds incredible!
I’m dying to read some of her work so I’m definitely gonna try…
But balancing all this with YALC? oh man i have no idea
I’m already so excited about the Graphic Novel readathon! They are an easy (easier?) way to reduce my TBR, especially the single-issue ones, so I want to read as many as I can. But mostly the Lumberjanes volumes + specials that I have.
I don’t have copies of any of the other books, but I do have Uprooted, so I’m excited to read that soon.
Me too, Ive done so well on not getting an early start onthem and keeping them all for me to read in July. Its been v hard haha bc i know once I start I wont wanna stop with them
EEP I HOPE YOU GUYS ENJOY SPINNING SILVER!!! I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to scream about it with you guys when you finish. ♥
Ah I’m so excited to read Spinning Silver!! I still can’t get over how much I loved Uprooted 🧡
Very cool!! I’ve decided to finally start The Walking Dead comic series. I didn’t want to watch the TV series and read the comics because I figured I’d get too confused. BUT the TV series has gone WAY downhill so it’s time to start the comics <3
I’m almost done with Spinning Silver! It’s so freaking good 😍
I gotta pick up a copy of This Savage Song! Ack.
I can’t wait for your bookshelf tour!!!
I really wish I could join in, I have so much to fit in by YALC. It all sounds amazing!
