Meet the Members

I run an online book club called Books and Tea and I love it dearly. I mean obviously I do or I wouldn’t still be running it.

I also wouldn’t be able to run it without the members as their activity within the club and their love for it too keeps it active and running smoothly.

I’m big on supporting the members and showing my appreciation for them and what better way to do so than to have guest posts from them – and thats what this feature will be.

For now I’m posting one every two weeks and I’ve provided the members with 4 open questions to answer and then a space to talk about anything they’d like – something they’re a fan of, something they do outside of the book club, or something they’re passionate about.

Introducing Anthony
Hello, I’m Anthony and I am one of the Moderators on Books and Tea! You can find me at GoodReads and on my blog, Keep Reading Forward!

How did you get into blogging and the online bookish world?
When I first joined Books and Tea on June 12, 2016, one of the first things I noticed that a lot of people were reviewers and everyone who reviewed, had a blog. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to run a blog myself, but I did like the idea of it and having a place where all my reviews were together at one place. It did take me a while to finally get what I wanted and a couple of blog moves later, I am at place where I wanted to be years earlier. It takes time and effort after all. Before I had a blog and joined Books and Tea, all I had was GoodReads. I joined GoodReads in May of 2012, when I first started reading YA Books. At first, I wanted a place to keep all of my progress on books and find more new books to read. I only followed a few people and really didn’t get any updates. After I joined, everything changed for the better. I couldn’t believe that I lasted for four years alone in the book world.

Tell us about your time on Books and Tea
Since I’ve been here for almost two years, Books and Tea has been a great help for everything. I really didn’t like reviewing books as I didn’t know what to talk about and where to start. I wanted people to read my reviews, but I was afraid I was not making them good enough. I believed I could have been one of the best reviewers possible (I may not be the best, but I try at least.) Being here for two years have taught me the dos and don’ts of reviewing, along with any questioned I had. My skills have grown overtime. I learned that I didn’t need to be the best, but to be the best of me. As long as the community supported one another, it brought out the best in everything. The community even helped me launch my adventure with book blogging. It took me a couple of tries to get it to work, but it all eventually lead to Keep Reading Forward, a blog I finally felt confident about.

The discord server has also helped me discover many books and series that soon became my favorites. I can’t imagine where I’d be and the amount of books I would have read if I have never came across the community. I would not even have anyone to talk about my reactions and the books themselves in general. I would have probably only read less than half the total books I read over the years if I never discovered Books and Tea. In general, Books and Tea has been a great community for a various reasons. I am glad to be a part of the community today.

Have you found and enjoyed any books thanks to Books and Tea?
When I first joined, one of the read-alongs were a series written by Neal Shusterman called Unwind. It was the first read-along that I participated within the server and I am probably one of a few that have read the entire series. I may or may not have binged read the entire series. I really enjoyed all the books and the series became a favorite of mine. I still have all four books sitting on my shelves. It is also funny, because I said I was so unsure about the series that I originally passed on the read-along. I ordered the books regardless. This is one of the many books that I would have never read if I didn’t find the server, so thank you Books and Tea!

Lastly, free area for you to talk about something you want to talk about it!
Also, my blog is currently undergoing a redesign (that’s taking forever) and I want to offer an exclusive sneak peek of the brand new logo!
NEWLOGOWMI’m super excited about the new design and I’m hoping for an August release! I hope everyone like the new designs I have been wanting for a long, long time!
