Challenges, State of the ARC

State of the ARC | In which I break down

State-of-the-ARC
State of the ARC |
In which I drown in ARCs

Every month I see Ava’s posts go live and every month I’m like y’know what I can do this. I can track my progress and feel happy. But every month I don’t. Untill now.

I am finally here to see how bad things are.

As I sit down to write down this first part of my post its early April and I figured it would be a good idea to show where I started so we can have a comparison should I make an progress this month.

Whilst this is my “start of April” data I would like to point out that to make things managable and not give me overwhelming anxiety I chose to only include review books I’ve received since 2016.

Maybe if  I’m feeling brave I’ll do a pre-2016 chart for you to see how messy that part of my life is.

Another reason I opted to do this is because 2017 is the year I started blogging consistently again. The year I moved to wordpress. Its these books that I should be prioritising because they’re newest y’know.

Okay so now its the end of April and I’m here again checking in. Lets see how I did!

So yay, I made some progress!

The ARC’s I managed to post reviews for in April are:

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Love, Simon by Becky Albertalli ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Dead of Winter: Good Good Dog by Kyle Starks ⭐⭐⭐ | Everless by Sara Holland ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Click the titles to see my thoughts on them.

I also managed to finish reading Blade Runner by Philip K. Dick ⭐⭐⭐⭐ which I already have the review ready to be posted next month.

For next month I already have my review for The Witch Doesn’t Burn In This One ⭐⭐⭐ scheduled too.

But that is all I did manage to achieve. Better than nothing hey?

You probably also noticed that I accidentally grew my NetGalley amount to read too. That is because I did a bit of browsing the shelves as it had been months and I requested 6 books. At the moment I have been approved for these 2, have you heard anything about these?

Ash Princess | The Traitor God

Next month I believe I’ll be attempting to finish reading the following ARCs:

Silver & Bone | Grace & Fury

How are you doing with your ARCs?

  1. I love this post and I love that you’re doing it with chart! Wow that’s a lot of books!! And I;ve heard so many good thing about Ash Princess. Happy reading!

  2. Congrats on joining! It’s so cool that you did this post. And your stats look so much better than mine :) although most of mine are also very old xD also, don’t be surprised that your unread stats actually grow xD it’s kind of what happens, although this month I barely hauled so I don’t even get it :D but they’re slowly slowly getting better. At least the unread old ones :)

I hope you’ll be joining the next month’s State as well!

  3. Welcome to the gang! It’s my second month doing it but I enjoy seeing my progress every month – or maybe seeing how many books I request compared to how many I read in a month. Ha ha!

I admire you for not requesting on NetGalley too much – how do you manage? I go in to write a review and then I request at least two more books.

  4. Ah, that’s not so bad !! still some way to go but, i’d say you are half done with this batch !

on my way, I have two review requests I accepted, and then an “open book” from NetGalley that close in june.

  5. I love your chart! I didn’t have the patience to make one, but I’m also not trying to deal with your number of arcs! I would drown, too. It’s great you’re making progress, though. I’m trying to have all of my backlist arcs read by the end of may (*laughs hysterically*), so fingers crossed. <3

  6. I love this! I should do something like it – right now I just have lists written down in my journal but this is so much more visual and pretty! I *try* not to have more than 10 open NetGalley’s at a time – meaning if I see something that I really want, I must read and review one that has already been approved. So far, this system seems to be working – but I do cheat occasionally :)

  7. You have a good handle of your ARCs all things considered! I…. My ARC pile is out of control and my NetGalley account is terrible. ^^;; I haven’t heard of The Traitor God but the cover is marvelous and I’ve been in the mood for fantasy, so I’ll definitely check it out! Awesome job reading and reviewing so many ARCs!

  8. Can’t wait to see what you think of Ash Princess. I really enjoyed it but thought it was a little predictable. I think I gave it a 3.5?
